Unlike the Tennessee Pass Tunnel's west portal, with steep approaches almost to the tunnel mouth, the line to the east portal passed through a wide, relatively flat valley, with most of the climb prior to that. At one time there was a considerable yard here, now reduced to a single passing siding. This view faces south.
