Near Wild Horse, Colorado, the long-abandoned Colorado Midland finished its descent from the legendary climb over the Rockies west of Colorado Springs, ultimately to cross the Denver & Rio Grande Western's Tennessee Pass line before continuing on to Aspen. Some idea of the heavy rock work required can be gotten from this stretch of grade, still available to adventurous motorists.
