This view from just north of Palisade, Nevada looks south (track direction west) towards the two tunnels that cut through a spur of Palisade Canyon. The Western Pacific is here on the left, with the Southern Pacific on the right; both are of course by now Union Pacific property. The Humboldt River runs between the two lines, but is too far below grade level to be seen.
