Union Pacific
Otto, Wyoming
September 30, 1997

The scenery around the Union Pacific's Sherman Hill main out of Cheyenne may appear featureless and relatively flat, but that only means that there is very little to stop blizzards from piling snow up to railroad-choking depths. These snow fences near Otto, Wyoming give mute testimony to the railroad's chief environmental foe. Seen off Otto Road (Wyoming Highway 225).
