Ogden, Utah (Cecil Junction)
September 1, 1996
Seen from 17th Street in the northwest part of Ogden, Utah is the Southern Pacific mainline to California, here looking southeast back towards Ogden with the Wahsatch Range looming at left. The signals mark the start of the curve away from the "old" Union Pacific-built main to Promontory Summit at Cecil Junction, where the "new" (1902-1904) Lucin Cutoff breaks away to head west across the northern end of the Great Salt Lake.
