Western Pacific
Golconda, Nevada
November 8, 1978

Three Southern Pacific units lead an eastbound freight on Western Pacific trackage through Emigrant Canyon at Golconda, Nevada. This was part of the paired trackage agreement between the Western Pacific and Southern Pacific, with eastbounds using the WP and westbounds the SP (the track in the foreground). It was actually unusual for both lines to be this close together; often they were as much as several miles apart. This is the Nevada State Route 18 grade crossing.
