If there's anything colder than a mid-winter day in upstate New York, it's a clear mid-winter day in upstate New York. Here a Penn Central freight approaches a highway crossing near Hornby, New York on the former New York Central's Fall Brook line. Incidentally, a following shot a few moments later was defeated by the camera's shutter completely freezing open; the resulting slides were absolutely, perfectly clear. I did say it was cold, didn't I?
