The Northern Pacific's Yakima, Washington depot was a particularly attractive structure, and immediately recognizable as NP. This view is looking west.
This stretch of line was later sold in a fit of economizing to the Washington Central in 1986, and then had to be bought back in 1996 when traffic turned out to be growing so much that reopening the former NP Stampede Pass line became a necessity.
