At State Line Crossing just west of Hammond, Indiana an Indiana Harbor Belt transfer run led by SW no. 8792 cuts diagonally across the Nickel Plate Road (left) and Chicago & Western Indiana (right) mains on its way to Blue Island Yard. The track crossing the Nickel Plate from lower left to upper right is the Monon's connector to the C&WI which will take it the rest of the way into Chicago. Note the headlight in the distance on the Nickel Plate (now Norfolk & Western) waiting its turn through the crossing.
