Utah
Springville, Utah
September 3, 1995

Here at Springville, Utah, looking south from the Utah Highway 77 bridge, we see where the individually owned tracks of the Utah Railway and the Denver & Rio Grande Western temporarily diverged, even though operated as a shared double track mainline. They soon converged again for the climb up Spanish Fork Canyon to Thistle, where the Utah Railway used trackage rights on the D&RGW to reach Utah Junction at Helper. At the far right is the D&RGW's branch to Elberta, which originally continued to mines at Mammoth, Eureka and Silver City. In the background is the Wasatch Range.
