One could always count on a show whenever a train emerged from the west portal of Denver & Rio Grande Western's Tennessee Pass Tunnel. The oncoming train typically pushed a huge cloud of boiling smoke ahead of it, and the sight of flames erupting from the diesels' stacks was not at all unusual. Unfortunately getting decent shots here would have pretty much required a telephoto lens. (Got some great videos, though…)
