Although no highway passes through Colorado's Gore Canyon, you can take Colorado State Highway 9 south out of Kremmling to Grand County Road 1 (Trough Road) which ultimately reaches the rim of the canyon near its south end and then works its way down the (quite steep) mountainside to the plains southwest of the canyon. It's well worth finding, as the views are spectacular. Here we see a loaded coal train (almost certainly from the Craig Branch) working its way east.
