Amtrak's westbound California Zephyr/Desert Wind rounds the Big Ten Curve as it continues its climb of the Front Range west of Denver. The line of trees visible ahead of the train is a windbreak anchored by a number of rock-filled hoppers on an abandoned siding along the main; the Denver & Rio Grande Western set up the barrier in 1973 after several trains had been blown off the tracks here in the past. Seen from Blue Mountain Road (above Clay Siding).
