Here alongside the actual Palmer Lake (at left) is a northbound approaching on the single remaining (Denver & Rio Grande Western) track on a more fortuitous day. The abandonded roadbed of the Santa Fe ran along the other side of the lake (out of the picture at far left), where Santa Fe maintained a small yard.
