The location is just north of Oak Creek, Colorado on the Rio Grande's Craig Branch, formerly the Moffat Road (Denver & Salt Lake) mainline. Although it never reached Salt Lake City, this line developed into a major coal carrier from the mines at its Craig terminus. By this time the Rio Grande had purchased the Southern Pacific, retaining the SP name. This view faces south.
