Railroads are not generally fond of throwing away equipment for which they can find a use (as long as it doesn't cost more than its worth). This ancient wooden boxcar (no. 35436) at the Delaware & Hudson's Binghamton, New York yard seems to have found a continuing purpose in life, judging from the ladder carefully placed in the doorway.
