At Colton Crossing, located in Colton, California, the Santa Fe and Southern Pacific mainlines cross at grade. Here we are looking south along the Santa Fe main; the bridge overhead is Interstate 10. Today, in spite of the many mergers and renamings, this spot still marks the crossing of the west's two remaining goliaths, Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific.
