Seen from just north of Echo, Utah, the Union Pacific mainline has here narrowed down to two tracks, one for each direction. Soon they will begin to follow separate paths up the steep canyon to take advantage of the best grades each way. Echo Canyon Road is just visible at left; eventually it will join with Interstate 80 further up the canyon.
