Soo Line
Chicago, Illinois (Ash Crossing)
July 27, 1971

Although at this time it was more common to see Soo Line transfer runs on the Chicago River & Indiana at Ash Crossing (the tracks just to the right of the locomotive), this one appears to be on the Baltimore & Ohio' s rails, with the Pennsylvania on the far side of the consist. Tracks in the near foreground are the Baltimore & Ohio-Santa Fe connector. The locomotive has just crossed the Santa Fe's mainline into Chicago and in another few seconds will cross the Illinois Central's Iowa line. The bridges span the Chicago River.
