Pennsylvania [Penn Central]
Wooster, Ohio
April 22, 1971

The creeping rot of deferred maintenance that was rapidly destroying Penn Central in the early seventies had clearly not yet reached the Fort Wayne line, the name given to the Pennsylvania's mainline from Pittsburg to Chicago. Seen in Wooster, Ohio the three-track main also boasts one of the unique Pennsy signal bridges with the curved corner plates and the position light signals used only by the Pennsy and its affiliates (such as the Norfolk & Western and the Long Island Railroad). Even the scrapyard in the background adds to the impression of raw industrial might.
