Pennsylvania [Penn Central]
Girard, Ohio
December 30, 1971

An eastbound Penn Central train of scrap metal gons approaches Girard, Ohio's Liberty Street bridge; in a few moments it will be passing through the massive concrete coaling tower at the west end of the Pennsylvania's Girard Yard and the connection with the Lake Erie & Eastern. To its right is the Baltimore & Ohio's Lake Subdivision, already descending in order to pass beneath the Pennsylvania via a tunnel. At the far right is the Erie's Cleveland & Mahoning main; the Mahoning River is visible at the left.
