New York Central [Penn Central]
West Rochester, New York
April 9, 1971

A handy footbridge over the former New York Central mainline at West Rochester, New York, conveniently located at the end of a city bus route, provided this vantage point for watching the parade of trains in and out of Rochester. Judging from the baggage cars, this is probably one of the through trains that continued west past Buffalo to Cleveland and possibly Chicago. Amtrak has been in charge for 9 days now, but fortunately it hasn't yet made a visible difference.

The two tracks on the left connect to a wye leading to the Brockport/Niagara Falls line. On the right is the interchange with the Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburgh (at that time part of the Baltimore & Ohio).
