Once out of the agricultural area around Price, Utah, the Denver & Rio Grande Western enters an arid desert region that bears a distinct resemblance to the surface of the moon. This meet, somewhere between Helper, Utah and Grand Junction, Colorado gives one the general idea. This shot was taken from the rear of Amtrak's combined California Zephyr/Pioneer/Desert Wind.
