Our eastbound Amtrak California Zephyr/Pioneer/Desert Wind has just cleared Soldier Summit and is starting the downhill descent to Helper, Utah. Note the left-handed running; the modernized Denver & Rio Grande Western was a big believer in CTC (and anything else) to manage its frequent fast freights. U.S. Route 6 is at right.
