Grand Central Station's train shed was gone by the time this 1971 slide was taken, but a careful look reveals that the iconic bell tower was still in place, although it looks like preparations for demolition were already in place. The B&O's remaining pre-Amtrak passenger trains had already moved to the Chicago & North Western's Madison Street Station in 1969. In another two years only a few tracks will remain.
