A train has appeared! In this case, a westbound on the former Southern Pacific, emerging from one of the tunnnels just south of Palisade, Nevada. The near track is of course the former Western Pacific main. The Union Pacific power should come as no surprise, as by this time both lines were firmly in the UP's grasp. Ironically, in 1960 SP attempted to bid for control of the WP and was rebuffed by the courts the following year.
