This view of the Southern Pacific mainline is just north of Palisade, Nevada, looking west (track direction) towards the first of the two Humboldt River bridges. Just past the bridge but not visible in the slide is the SP's tunnel through a rock spur of the hillside, to emerge immediately onto another bridge. The Humboldt River and the Western Pacific's line run along the base of the canyon to the left.
