Here from the same location (from Nevada State Route 278 a bit west of Carlin), this time looking east, we see a westbound freight on the Southern Pacific line, with the Humboldt River and Western Pacific to the right, and Carlin visible in the distance. By this time, of course, both of these lines belonged to Union Pacific.
