By 1972 the Monon had become part of the Louisville & Nashville; here an L&N freight is leaving Chicago & Western Indiana trackage to regain former Monon rails at State Line Crossing just west of Hammond, Indiana. In a few moments L&N no. 4049 & friend will be crossing former Nickel Plate and Baltimore & Ohio rails before leaving the interlocking plant.
