Riverdale, Illinois is a busy station on the Illinois Central's electrified suburban service south of downtown Chicago. Although the platforms are flanked on both sides by the electrified commuter lines, the platform also provides an excellent view of the non-electrified IC mainline. E-unit no. 4020, probably Amtrak property by now, passes the station in the late afternoon sun.
