The old railroad safety adage of "Expect a train at any time, in any direction, on any track" could well be amended in the Chicago area by adding "from any railroad." Here an Illinois Central transfer run led by no. 1212 passes Chicago's Western Ave. Station on Milwaukee Road rails, with the Chicago & North Western coach yards in the background.
