At this point in its climb the Moffat Road is still skirting the face of the Front Range, with many spectacular views of the plains to the east. It will be several more miles before the line cuts through a rocky outcropping to enter the canyon of Boulder Creek, which it will follow up to the Moffat Tunnel.
