Cass Scenic Railroad

Cass Scenic Railroad
Cass, West Virginia
August 22, 1972

Here one of the Cass Scenic Railroad's Shays (probably #2) prepares for the day's chores by loading up coal and water. The line which became the Cass Scenic Railroad was originally built in 1901 as a logging railroad for the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company. After shutting down in 1960, it began a new life in 1963 as the Cass Scenic Railroad, today the Cass Scenic Railroad State Park.
