Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific

Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific
Falcon, Colorado
June 9, 1996

One of the major casualties of the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific's final abandonment in 1980 was the line to Colorado Springs, which once saw the daily passage of the Rocky Mountain Rockets. In 1996 the line was gone between Limon, Colorado and Colorado Springs, leaving only a roadbed and artifacts such as this wooden trestle 56 miles west of Limon, near Falcon.
