South of Union Station, and just before the Pennsylvania's vertical lift bridge over the Chicago River (South Branch), the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy curved off to the west for Aurora and beyond. Seen here from the Canal Street bridge looking west we see the "Q's" multi-track mainline, with the St. Charles Air Line at right climbing towards its crossing of the Chicago River South Branch.
