One of the saddest casualties of the CSX merger was the abandonment of Chessie System's classic sleeping cat, a descendent of the Chesapeake & Ohio's kitten mascot Chessie widely used in the C&O's passenger advertising (and eventually joined by several other feline members of Chessie's family, such as Peake). Until its final merger into CSX in 1987 the Baltimore & Ohio was operated independently even when sharing paint schemes with the C&O under the Chessie System "brand," with the owning road's initials clearly marked on locomotives and cabooses as in the case of no. 4136 (here seen at Dolton Crossing on B&OCT rails).
