Youngstown & Northern
Girard, Ohio
December 30, 1971

The Youngstown & Northern was a small industrial road in northern Youngstown providing a connection between steel industries in McDonald (a company town founded by Carnegie Steel) with the trunk lines in Youngstown. From its yard near Brier Hill it ran to Ohio Junction, from where it paralleled the Baltimore & Ohio mainline to several steel processing plants in McDonald. Here, looking north from the west end of Girard's Liberty Street bridge, we see the B&O mainline on the left and the Y&N on the right.
