Union Pacific
Salt Lake City, Utah (Grant Tower)
June 5, 1970

West of the Union Pacific's Salt Lake City depot was the junction of the UP's former Oregon Short Line from Ogden to Provo and beyond and the road's Los Angeles & Salt Lake line to Las Vegas, Nevada and Los Angeles. This track vehicle is coming off the north end of the wye from the LA&SL and will briefly join the rails of the Denver & Rio Grande Western's Salt Lake City-Ogden line before continuing onto the UP main. In the distance the south leg of the wye can be seen crossing the D&RGW (just after the searchlight signals), with the Denver & Rio Grande Western/Western Pacific depot visible in the distance. Before then the UP will curve to the left to begin street running on 4th West Street for almost seven blocks on its way to Provo and beyond.
