Union Pacific
Lund, Utah
July 9, 1994

Lund, Utah today is just a wye in the middle of Utah's Escalante Desert, but in the earlier part of the twentieth century it played a major part in the Union Pacific's promotion of southern Utah's national parks such as Zion, Cedar Breaks and Bryce. At Lund, trains of vacationers left the mainline to head down the branch to Cedar City, Utah, where accommodations and transportation to the parks was provided. Cedar City itself sported an impressive station located within a large balloon track (loop) facing Main Street. Today the station still stands and hosts an antique mall. This view of Lund looks north along the Union Pacific (Los Angeles & Salt Lake) mainline.
