Although the Pennsylvania Railroad was famous as the "Standard Railroad of the World," in reality it seemed as if everything the Pennsy did was unique (and instantly recognizable), like this caboose seen on the tail end of a freight near Salem, Ohio. And how many other railroads would give a caboose a number like "477873"?
