At Cisco, Utah, the Denver & Rio Grande Western's long eastbound trek across the moonscape of the San Rafael Desert comes to an end as the road begins its descent into the valley of the Colorado River, eventually to pass through Ruby Canyon before arriving at Grand Junction, Colorado.
