The construction of Interstate Highway 70 through Glenwood Canyon (completed in 1992) concluded a storm of controversy that had lasted for thirty years. Certainly in some of the narrower portions of the Canyon the multiple-lane divided highway had a severe impact, as is evident in this view from Amtrak's combined California Zephyr/Desert Wind.
