One might have hoped that this eastbound Union Pacific freight at Range, Colorado would have had at least a Denver & Rio Grande Western or Southern Pacific unit or two, but instead what should appear behind the lead UP diesel but two Wisconsin Central units! At this time the WC was at its peak as an independent railroad, ultimately to be purchased by Canadian National in 2001. The Colorado River can be seen against the far canyon walls.
