Colorado & Southern [Burlington Northern Santa Fe]
Speer, Wyoming
September 30, 1997

Although Speer, Wyoming is best known as the junction of the Union Pacific's Denver Line with the UP main, it also features the former Colorado & Southern's line into Wyoming, which here cuts directly beneath the Denver Line in the foreground. The C&S was long a subsidiary of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy (later Burlington Northern, and by this time part of Burlington Northern Santa Fe). This train is southbound, heading for Cheyenne. The line at this point negotiates a wide loop (mostly hidden by the terrain at right) before ascending towards the camera; the right of way to the north can be seen heading off to the left in the distance.
