Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe
Castle Rock, Colorado
June 9, 1996

A Burlington Northern southbound freight passes the grade crossing into the Castle Rock, Colorado Kampgrounds of America™ facility on Joint Line trackage (Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe in this case). The BN had trackage rights over the Joint Line dating back to the Colorado & Southern's original rights acquired in 1900, eventually abandoning its own north-south line from Denver to Pueblo in 1919.

These units were painted in the "Grinstein-cream-and-green" scheme adopted near the end of BN's life, before merger into Burlington Northern Santa Fe in December 1996; it was a huge improvement over the sickly yellowish-green defacing BN units before that time but unfortunately had a short lifespan.
