Completion of the Crookton Cutoff in 1960 left the Santa Fe's double track main between Ash Fork and Williams, Arizona with far more capacity than was needed for the remaining traffic. Although the westbound main was abandoned not long after, the former eastbound main on the other hand is quite well, thank you, carrying several trains a day each way to and from Phoenix via the Peavine Branch.
